Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 23, 2026

MiteFi helps you organize and understand your household finances. This policy explains the information used to provide that service, the providers involved, and your choices. MiteFi is not a bank or brokerage. Contact us at contact@mitefi.com with privacy questions.

Who may use MiteFi

MiteFi is available only to people who are at least 18 years old and reside in the United States. Every household member must meet these requirements.

MiteFi is not intended for children. If you believe someone under 18 has created an account, contact contact@mitefi.com so we can review and address it.

Information we collect and why

  • Account information: your name, email address, sign-in information and household membership, to authenticate you and control access.
  • Information you enter: assets, debts, bills, budgets, goals, investments, property and insurance details, to provide your financial views and planning tools.
  • Connected accounts: when you authorize a connection through Plaid, account identifiers, balances and transaction details for the accounts you select. If you enable investment holdings, we also receive holdings and related investment information supported by that connection.
  • Documents: files you upload and information extracted from them when you request analysis.
  • Billing information: subscription status and payment-related identifiers used to manage your plan. Stripe processes payment details through its payment interface.
  • Technical and support information: service activity, errors, security events and information you send us, to operate the application, investigate problems and respond to requests.
  • Notification details: email addresses or phone numbers designated for reminders you enable.

Your choices and connected accounts

You can use manual financial records without linking a bank. Connecting an account is optional and requires completing Plaid Link. Review the accounts and permissions presented there. Investment holdings are a separate optional choice. MiteFi does not receive the bank password you enter in the provider's connection flow. Plaid's handling of information is described in its End User Privacy Policy.

Disconnecting an account stops future retrieval once provider disconnection succeeds. It does not automatically erase information already imported into MiteFi. Use the deletion controls described below to remove that information.

How we use and share information

We use information to provide financial organization, planning, account synchronization, document features, billing, support and security. Members of your household can access its shared financial information according to their roles. Only invite people with whom you intend to share that information.

Service providers process information needed for their functions:

  • Clerk provides account authentication and identity management.
  • Vercel hosts the application and document storage; Supabase provides database storage.
  • Plaid provides the financial connections you authorize.
  • Stripe handles subscription payments.
  • Upstash supports application operations such as rate limiting; Sentry supports error monitoring when configured.
  • OpenAI processes document content or financial context for AI features you request.
  • Resend and Twilio support enabled email and text-message features.

MiteFi does not sell your financial information or use it to target advertising. We may also disclose information when required by applicable law or to respond to a valid legal request, protect users, or investigate abuse.

AI-assisted features

When you request document analysis or an AI explanation, relevant document content or financial context is sent to the AI provider for that feature. You can choose not to use these features. Review generated results before relying on them. This policy does not promise that third-party processing has zero retention.

Retention and deletion

Account and financial records are kept to provide the service until removed through the applicable deletion controls. Deleting your account removes your membership in shared households; it does not erase other members' shared records. Households for which you are the only member are deleted with your account.

Removing active application records is separate from completing external file deletion, provider disconnection, and backup expiry. Failed external cleanup may require retries. Limited identifiers and encrypted connection credentials may be retained to finish that cleanup and are removed when it succeeds. Backups, security records and provider-held records can remain beyond active-record deletion; deletion is not a promise of immediate removal from every copy. See Data Deletion for the available controls.

Privacy requests

You can edit information in the app and request access, correction or deletion by emailing contact@mitefi.com. We may need to verify your identity and authority over the requested information. Available rights and exceptions depend on applicable law; this policy does not promise that a request can remove another household member's information.

Security and service providers

We use access controls and encryption to protect information. No service can guarantee complete security. Our providers may process information in locations other than where you live. Their own policies govern their independent services; this policy describes MiteFi's practices.

Changes to this policy

We update this page as our practices change and revise the date above. Where required, we will provide additional notice or seek consent before using information for a new purpose.
